1. The Bollywood Connection
Bollywood actor and director Dev Anand wanted to shoot the song ‘Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar’ but the cameras were too big to fit inside the tower’s narrow passage, and the song was shot inside a replica of the tower instead.
2. Can You Climb Up These Stairs?
To reach the marble top of the Minar, there are 379 stairs! Panting already?
3. Oldie But Not Rusty!
The famous Iron Pillar has not rusted for over 2000 years!
4. What’s In A Name?
People are still divided on the origins of the minaret’s name. Some believe that it was named after Qutb al-Din Aibak, the emperor while others believe Qutubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, the famous Sufi saint was the inspiration!
5. Invincible?
Allegedly, Qutub Minar is still standing tall after lightning struck it in 1326 and 1368 and has also survived an earthquake that happened in the 16th century. Truly the pride of Delhi, eh?
