Want to chill with friends? Want to shop your heart out? Want to watch a movie? Connaught Place is the one-stop destination for almost anything and everything in Delhi! But because it’s frequented by so many people every day it has also been at the receiving end of a lot of littering by the not-so-responsible citizens of our city! But NDMC has found a way out. Read on!
NDMC has employed overseers, also known as civic wardens to keep a check and charge fine of ₹50 for littering, spitting or parking illegally in Connaught Place. The civil wardens, which will be 100 in number, will work in two shifts- in the morning to the afternoon from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and in the evening from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
They will be positioned strategically to keep an eye on the defaulters on the eight radial roads of the inner, middle and outer areas. Additionally, these wardens will also be responsible for keeping a lookout on traffic, illegal vendors or violators!
