The railway department has proposed a plan that will slash down the distance from Delhi to Mumbai and Howrah as well, to just 10 and 12 hours respectively, that is around “five-and-a-half” hours less than the usual time taken. In the next four years, the successful completion of the project could be expected.

This proposal comes under the 100-day plan of the second edition of the Narendra Modi government where the railways target to increase the maximum speed of trains to 160 kmph on these routes to make the commuting easier and faster. The railway estimated an amount of Rs. 13,500 over the railway infrastructure.
