Recently, Gary Mehigan flew down to Delhi to take part in the Australian Fest. Armed with ingredients from Australia like lemon, myrtle and more – Gary was here to showcase the ‘Taste of Australia’! In fact, he also dropped by at Hyatt Regency for a Masterclass and dinner. [Lucky us!]
What we expected from Gary Mehigan [we weren’t disappointed :P]
Firstly, it was something we could only dream of! His disarming smile left us basking in his energy as he dished out a gobsmacking 4-course meal with ease.
Secondly, it was something we’re not accustomed to! Frankly, it’s one thing to keep your eyes fixed on the telly as he preps the contestants for a Masterclass, it’s another to see him live.
And trust us, had you been there, you would’ve realised by now how tough it is to put to words the excitement we felt meeting him!
What we loved about Gary Mehigan
The event kicked off with a Masterclass. However, it ended with a special dinner showcasing not just the beautiful ingredients found in Australia but also Jacob’s Creek!
Their red, white and sparkling wine balanced perfectly with the flavours found in Gary’s 4-course meal. And while the meal was simple, the flavours were bold and oh-so yum!
It included:
- Roasted Pumpkin, Labneh & Green Wheat
- King Fish, Furikake, Yuzu Mayonnaise & Garlic Chips
- Roasted Lamb Rump, Carrot Puree, Spinach & Feta Gozleme
- Warm Almond & native Friande with Yoghurt ice cream
However, even though each of us was given one plate, we swear we would’ve gone for one more. [And if time permitted, two more :P] *Yes, we’re drooling again*
Bottom Line
You missed it! 😛 But the Masterclass and the dinner was everything we lust for while watching Masterchef Australia!
