As recorded IITs have witnessed less number of female students over the years, they are critical of this situation, and are taking steps like Open House for girls to raise their numbers and to make the overall campuses “more gender sensitive and equal” thereby promoting gender sensitivity.
In a survey conducted, it was found that the girls don’t come to IIT despite qualifying JEE. The officials has decided to increase the seats for girls students to 190 this year under EWS criteria. The faculty members informed the students regarding the prospects of studying at IIT, safety situation and more, henceforth expecting more students this year.
IITs are moving a step closer to gender equality soon!
