2018’s first food festival is here and it has got us all excited! The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NSVAI) and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India are organising the 9th edition of the National Street Food Festival and we just cannot wait!
The event promises to be 3 days of heaven on Earth for connoisseurs of the Indian street food, with thousands of vendors from different states bringing to the city, only their best and most-loved foods.
Street vendors constitute an important segment of Indian cities as they provide goods and services at better costs and convenient places.
National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) is a network and advocacy platform of 636 street vendor organizations representing 8,67,426 vendors across 25 states of India. By organizing National Street Food Festival in Delhi, NSVAI brings the food vendors from different parts of the country on one platform.
The success of the event not only helps the vendors economically but also break the stereotype that street food as unhealthy and unhygienic
The 9th National Street Food Festival will be a vibrant representation of the myriad tastes of the country, complete with the exclusive delicacies and food-items belonging to the streets of Indian states.
It would feature around 500 best street food vendors from across the country. The festival would also include –, festival foods of India, Temple foods of India, organic food bazaar and a segment of ‘legends’ where 20 famous food vendors of different cities will put up their stalls
There are going to be a lot of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. With options like Kashmiri chaat and namkeen tea from Jammu and Kashmir, mawa kachori and special kulfi from Rajasthan, chicken pakoda and chhena jalebi from Bihar and gughni and fish paturi from West Bengal, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
The purpose of the festival is to bring street food vendors in the mainstream food scene so that they get their deserved space in the cities.
