In the years gone by, travellers would know they’ve reached Delhi after a glimpse of the Humayun’s Tomb dome. In fact, it used to shine brightly at night so travellers would know where they were.
However, due to rapid urbanization and construction, lighting up of the dome stopped. This won’t be the case anymore as Aga Khan Foundation and Havells India have joined hands to light up the dome with LED lights. Moreover, once illuminated, the dome will be visible from all directions: Nizamuddin Bridge, Barapullah, Zakir Hussain Marg and Lodi Road.
However, lighting up of the dome of Humayun’s Tomb does not mean that it’ll be open for visitors at night. In fact, according to sources, the focus will only be the dome. Moreover, this is only a way to go back to what the monument was meant built for. And what it meant to the city and its people.
