Come summers and you will find yourselves surrounded by stalls of shikanji, aam panna, and rose flavoured concoctions, that’s it. But here we have found a place that makes a cooling drink made out of Jaggery!
In the lanes of Old Delhi is a 70-year-old Jaggery sherbet stall, where you can get this sweet cooling drink at any time of the day!
Aqeel, the current owner buys the jaggery from a nearby market. He pours the drink onto an ice-filled brass platter and then covers with a plastic sheet to ward off flies.
Served with lemon, one glass of this timeless Jaggery Sherbet costs Rs 5 only and they are not going to increase it anytime soon!
You can consume this delicious drink any time in the day as it replenishes your body in the sweltering heat.
The shop opens at 8:00 am and is open till 10:00 pm at night, and is ALWAYS swarming with people! If you want to get your hands on some of this jaggery goodness, then you will have to cut through the crowd, but trust us it is going to be totally worth it!
