Jewar airport is an upcoming project in Greater Noida and a much-needed one as well! There are plans to make the Jewar airport twice the size of the IGI Airport which will it make it one of the biggest airports in the world. A proposal of having 8 runways, 5 more than Delhi’s airport was made to Yogi Adityanath on his trip to Noida on June 14.
As the IGI Airport is reaching its saturation, this ambitious project is likely to be completed by 2024. YEIDA will have to acquire land from 3000 farmers to complete the first phase of building the airport which will feature two runways. For the expansion of further phases, the land will have to be seized from 5000 more farmers to make a fully functional airport. Rs 15,000 – Rs 20,000 crores is the estimated cost that the government will have to incur.
The authorities have a gigantic task (quite, literally) in front of them and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
