In a country where cricket is the dominant sport, the beautiful game of football is slowly making its way into the hearts of sports enthusiasts. With Indian football still struggling to gain popularity, football fans in India have closely started forming their own football clubs!

So, while FIFA ’18 is right around the corner, join these football clubs in Delhi to warm up a bit!

Delhi United Football Club

Earlier named as Gorkha Heroes, the Delhi United Football Club was founded in 1995. It is a 2nd Division I-League club from New Delhi, Delhi. And had participated in the 2012 Durand Cup.

Hindustan Football Club

Formed in 1948 Hindustan Football Club plays in the I-League 2nd Division. The team has participated in all major domestic football tournaments including second division ILeague for seven years, Federation Cup as well as amongst the world’s oldest football tournament Durand Cup, prominent LG CUP, ONGC CUP and many other.

New Delhi Heroes Football Club

One of Delhi’s most successful football clubs, New Delhi Heroes Football Club was formed in 1939. New Delhi Heroes are the past Winners of the Inaugural DCM Cup – 1945. They beat the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 3-2. They are also seven-time DSA League winners – 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1959, 2007. They won the DSA League last season. They won the title in style by going through the entire campaign unbeaten.

Simla Young Football Club

Formed in 1936 the club has always been an amateur team but in January 2011 it was announced that they were to participate in the 2011 I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of football in India.

Hailey Football Club

Another amateur team, Hailey FC is a Football Club formed by the Adventist Youth In New Delhi. Their main aim is to keep their players fit and win Tournaments. Since their formation in 2012, they have bagged various prizes and won many tournaments.
