Lady Shri Ram College will render hostel facilities only for the first-year students, starting this academic year. After completion of one year, girls need to vacate the hostel seats and lodge up elsewhere. This has been confirmed through a notice, recently put up on the college website.
The college authorities have taken up this step to ensure a secure environment for the freshers in the hostel, and also to accommodate more seats for the outstation students who are just moving in to the city. Once they get accustomed to the milieu out here, they can find suitable homes for themselves.
This is applicable only for the new joiners. The current second-year and third-year students can continue staying in the college hostel. Also, this measure isn’t applicable for physically challenged students. They can stay in the hostel for all three years.
Restricting hostel seats to first-year students can be debatable ‘coz there are parents who send their students here only due to hostel facilities. But as a top-notch institute in the city, the college must have come down to such decision after enough of planning and analysis.
