Know It All In 30 Seconds
They look like you and me, they come, they talk and boom your wallet vanishes! The Central Industrial Security Force has identified that 90% of the pickpocketing in Delhi metro is done by gangs of women who’ve now become very active. The 8 stations most inflicted by them are Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Shahdara, HUDA City Centre, Rajiv Chowk, Kirti Nagar, New Delhi and Tughlakabad!
In 2016, at least, 41 male and 438 female suspected pickpockets were caught by the CISF. These women pose as innocuous metro commuters and usually carry toddlers with them and engage other passengers in conversation. To combat the situation, CISF has been deploying female personnel in civilian clothes but lack of complaints has posed as an obstacle for them to carry out a thorough investigation.
So, the next time you’re travelling in the metro think twice before engaging in a seemingly harmless conversation with strangers!
