Know It All In 30 Seconds
Delhi Metro never fails to amaze us and it holds a world record to its name! Did you know that with a size of just 151.6 metres against an average of 265 metres, the underground Ashram Metro Station on the Pink Line is the smallest metro station in the world?
The Pink line has made the commute between South Delhi and East Delhi much easier with its 9.7km section of which Ashram Metro station is a part of. But this wasn’t a conscious decision on the part of DMRC! They had to fight a series of land acquisition battles for this metro station’s construction.
The DMRC had to reduce the station by almost half the average size. This was done by making the station vertically while saving space horizontally. Additionally, Ashram Metro Station is also adorned with unique and beautiful artwork revolving around the theme of ‘mother and child.’ The colour scheme was carefully chosen as it conveys the concept of abundance.
Delhi Metro and its wonders are many and this is just another feather added to the hat!
