Striding Towards Women’s Safety! Delhi Govt. Forms Task Force For Women Safety In Public Transport

Know It All In 30 Seconds

To enhance the quality of commuting for women travelers in public transport, Delhi Government has initiated a task force to ensure the safety of women passengers in Delhi. The task force would be working on both on and off ground levels and would be monitoring all the existing schemes related to women’s safety and their implementation, along with proposing new plans for the the same. It will provide improvements in the effectiveness of bus marshals programs.

The task force will consist the representatives from all the stakeholders of public transports as well as the members of the civil society who are drawn towards the women safety. It would also include two female commuters on a daily basis to be nominated by the transport minister.

The installation of panic buttons, CCTV cameras in buses along with gender sensitization of drivers and conductors are some of the measures for women safety that are inscribed in the mandate of this task force. The task force will have representatives from various concerned government departments.
