If there’s anything you can dream of every day, whether you’re actually sleeping or daydreaming it is – FOOD! So, if you’re reading this and you’re new in town – this list will tell you exactly where to munch. And the best part? We’ve highlighted places where you can have a full meal for less than INR 200! *woaahhh*
I. Zakir Nagar
Where | Okhla
Zakir Nagar has a dedicated love zone for the city dweller and for his/her lustful plate of Mughlai food. Going down the lane – much like our Ghalib lane in Nizamuddin – there are fewer shops that sell meals like maggi on a cold day! Yet, if you head to Madina Hotel, Talib Kebab Corner or even Al Rashida, trust us, you can hog on a plate of biryani for INR 30 and 5 kebabs for INR 40!
II. Nizamuddin
Where | Next to Humayun’s Tomb
Now, this is the place you need to be when you’re low on cash but high on hunger lust! The best place to check out here is Ghalib. Probably one of the oldest joints here, Ghalib, is just too good to be true. In fact, their kebabs are out of this world and if you go there, you can probably even hog on their signature chicken biryani!
III. Chandni Chowk
For all those who don’t know why Chandni Chowk is famous, take a step back, we’re about to drop a food bomb! The lanes of Chandni Chowk are famous for its paranthe vali gali! There are outlets over here that offer 25 types of paranthas and that’s not even the best part. Try Meghraj and Sons, Pt. Kanhaiyalal & Durga Prasad Dixit Paranthe Wale among other!
IV. Jama Masjid
The lanes near Jama Masjid are probably the ones that are best for chicken, mutton and related dishes. In fact, if you go there on a weekend, you’ll find the entire lane full of people who just want to EAT! Try Al-Jawahar if you want authentic Mughlai food but understand one thing. These guys don’t offer a single plate of vegetarian food! 😛 You can also try – Karim’s, Aslam Chicken and more!
V. Pragati Maidan
Contrary to popular belief, Pragati Maidan has this amazing joint that serves the best biryani in town! Babu Shahi Bawarchi is one of the oldest standing food joints in Delhi. These guys make biryani the way it’s supposed to be made. In a big handi that sits over a chulah at least 5 feet long. The aroma of the spices, the chicken slowly getting cooked is probably the best thing here!
VI. Connaught Place
The market may be the hub of Delhi with some of the biggest food chains’ outlet residing here, CP still has few places where you can eat for less than INR 200. You can check out India Coffee House, Coffe Home Delhi Tourism and even Keventers for that matter! The food, the milkshakes and the ambience will drive you mad as you take in every single whiff of the spices.
VII. Jangpura
Jangpura has this beautiful lane of delicious food outlets that can easily drive any foodie mad.
VIII. Gole Market
Gole Market has one very prominent and heavenly place to check out! Have you ever heard of Kalevas? These guys have been making foodies since the god knows when. In fact, you must try their chowmein rolls! It’s not an exotic meal as many might believe but it’s crunchy and when its piping hot – it’s frickin’ delicious and beyond our wildest dreams!
IX. Paharganj
Paharganj is known to be a hippie’s market but it’s also a foodie’s haven! How? Well, have you ever heard of Cafe CoffeeCo? These guys offer ravishing pancakes for just INR 50! *yummm* Heck! You can even check out Sitaram Diwan Chand – the most popular Chhole Bhature brand in the city. It’s beyond our wildest dreams and costs absolutely nothing! Well, of course, it does but it doesn;t blow a hole in your pocket at least! 😛
X. Lajpat Nagar
Central Market in Lajpat Nagar is full of eateries that can easily sweep you off your feet. With tons of chhole bhature, momos and other such street food dominating the market’s heart – there’s a no reason why you shouldn’t hog here! In fact, take a closer look and check out Dolma Aunty – her momos are an absolute craze in Delhi and can easily be called legendary! You can also try – Anand Ji, Ambersari Dhaba, Hunger Strike and Baba Nagpal Corner.
So, the point of this entire list was to tell you where all you can eat delicious food in Delhi that too for or less than INR 200. Satisfied or shall we tell you more?
Hmmm..well, you can wait till the next right? Because this sure as hell is making us hungry!
