2019 has begun and this blog goes out to each of you who are wandering souls and always looking for opportunities to travel. Yes. The list of long-weekends in 2019 is here. This is not just the list of the long weekends, but also a season wise guide of the best places to travel to on each of these long weekends! We did all the research for you so that you can sit back, relax and plan your vacations. Ready for it? Here goes!
1. January – 12th, 13th & 14th (Saturday, Sunday, & Makar Sankranti)
The first long weekend of the year has come without making us wait much. Witness the white desert’s culture and heritage at Rann Utsav at Kutch, Gujarat, fly your colours and spirits high at Kite Festival in Jaipur or witness the camel dancing at Bikaner Camel Festival. January must be spent travelling to the west end of the country!

2. March – 2nd, 3rd & 4th (Saturday, Sunday, & Maha Shivaratri)
Even though February doesn’t have a long weekend, March Makes up for it. Visit the birthplace of yoga during International Yoga Festival, Rishikesh, or head to the Goa carnival if that’s what floats your boat! Witness peace of the jungle at Ranthambore National Park or even Mount Abu that is an “oasis in the desert”. Take a pick and pick your bag!

3. March- 21st, 22nd, 23rd, & 24th (Holi, Leave, Saturday, & Sunday)
See? March really makes up for the February! Consider travelling to Vrindavan-Mathura for Holi. Ooty for picturesque views. Ranthambore, Rajasthan for wildlife spotting. Sikkim for a peaceful getaway, and Hampi for its ruins and landscapes. Really escape the year!

4. April – 19th, 20th & 21st (Good Friday, Saturday, & Easter Sunday)
The summer is almost here and we know what that means. Mountains galore! Bless yourself with the blissful beauty of valleys and lakes in Kashmir, enjoy sightseeing at Dharamshala or head to Kasauli for bird watching or trekking. Conquer that mountain. April is your month!

5. August – 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th (Leave, Saturday, Sunday, & Bakrid)
Make up for the months of May, June & July not having any long weekends! Treat yourself to smell buds at Valley of Flowers. Visit the paradise on earth called Ladakh, or simply spend time enjoying the rains at Coorg.

6. August-September – 30th, 1st, & 2nd (Saturday, Sunday, & Ganesh Chaturthi)
After spending your time exploring the mountains, experience religiosity at the sacred city of Varanasi. Go camping and experience peace at Ziro, or indulge in some adventurous activities at Bhimtal.

7. October – 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th (Saturday, Sunday, Leave, & Durga Puja)
While the options are limitless, it’s highly recommended that you head to our beloved Kolkata for experiencing Pujo in all its glory! Other options include Kullu-Manali for catching the beginning of winters, Manas National Park, Assam for its endangered endemic wildlife, or Jodhpur for folk culture.

8. October – 26th, 27th, 28th, & 29th (Saturday, Sunday, Diwali, & Bhai Dooj)
While most of us like going home to our families for Diwali, there are those of us who would miss no chance to travel wide and far! For those of you, you might want to consider Agra for Taj Mahal, Jaisalmer for its fort and museums, Amritsar for the Golden Temple Diwali celebrations, Varanasi for Diwali fireworks, and Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh for tiger spotting.

9. November 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th (Saturday, Sunday, Leave, & Guru Nanak Jayanti)
Welcome November with its early long-weekend and celebrate that another year is coming to an end soon! The Pushkar mela is upon us and you know you want to visit. Consider travelling to the mountains also because honestly, when are we ever bored of them! You might even get to catch the season’s first snowfall if you’re very lucky.
