So, like most other places in Delhi, SN Market is also a huge part of history. Named after Freedom Fighter, Sarojini Naidu – SN Market was built in 4 different sections, each in a different direction.

  1. Babu Market
  2. Subzi Market
  3. Central Market
  4. Mandir Wali Side

In fact, even until the early 2000’s the market was home to several family-owned shops, and still is! For example, Babu Market’s North-West side used to have a bakery & general store until the early 90’s. Additionally, Subzi Market’s far south end used to have a famous sweets shop until the mid-90’s!

Political history of Sarojini Nagar Market

Sarojini Nagar Market was also known as being an RSS, VHP and BJP activity hotbed. In fact, even today you can find many such meetings taking place in the morning!

Moreover, the market has many surrounding parks. In fact, many of them were also named after freedom fighters like Swami Vivekanand Park. Which, by the way, in the 70’s and 80’s was called Fountain Park.
