Love chilling with your friends over chilled beers? Well, you need to hold that thought before you decide on a place to do that because the Excise department just found that 9 prominent bars in Delhi have been serving expired beer to their customers!
During surprise inspections between August 2017 to April 2018, the Excise Department found nine prominent venues at popular Delhi spots such as Hauz Khas and Connaught Place serving expired beer.
The department also revealed that of the 214 establishments inspected, 94 were found violating other norms as well. Many bars and clubs were found violating the seat-capacity condition.
According to data provided by the Excise Department in the Delhi Assembly, nine restro bars located in Vasant Vihar, Rajouri Garden, Saket, New Friends Colony, Punjabi Bagh, Laxmi Nagar, Connaught Place and Janakpuri were found serving “expired beer” to customers during the inspections.
Five cases of alcohol being served to underage customers were also found, and complaints were lodged with the police for the same.
So, all we are saying is that before you gorge down your favourite beer, make sure you check the expiry date at the bottom of the bottle.
