Delhi-Meerut Highway Now Has Vertical Gardens, Murals And Solar Panels

Delhi-Meerut Highway To Be Beautified With Vertical Gardens, Murals And Solar Panels

The Delhi-Meerut Highway is getting a makeover and it is going to be like something never before!
The NHAI has divided the Delhi-Meerut Expressway expansion project in five phases — Nizamuddin Bridge to UP border (around 9 km), Ghaziabad to Dasana, Dasana to Meerut, Dasana to Hapur and a connector from Hapur to Meerut.

Replicas of Qutub Minar and Ashok Stambh (Ashoka Pillar), fountains, vertical gardens, solar panels, murals and greenery at Nizamuddin Bridge alongside NH-24 will soon welcome the travellers making their journey even more picturesque.

A 2.5 m-tall Qutub Minar replica, has been installed at the eastern entrance of the Nizamuddin Bridge, which is made of terracotta blocks. The Ashoka Pillar,  which is ready but yet to be placed, will be installed on the western entrance of the bridge.

Interestingly, the expressway will be touching Meerut from where one of the Ashokan pillars was brought on the order of Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 13th century so that it was installed in an area which now falls under Delhi Ridge.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is carrying out the beautification work on the 1.5 km stretch between Nizamuddin Bridge and Commonwealth Sports Village flyover as a part of NH-24 expansion project (Delhi-Meerut Expressway).
