With the increasing alarming levels of pollution in Delhi, the need to switch to an environmental-friendly lifestyle is growing. Delhi Metro is all set to become World’s first 100% solar powered metro.
The initiative has begun with Voilet line being the first in the project pipeline. The Delhi Metro’s initiative to carry out all operations using solar power will help them save a massive amount, almost as much as Rs. 1400 crore.
An initiative like this will encourage other modes of communication to become eco-friendly too. At present, DMRC uses solar energy for almost 60% of its electricity needs. The project will take around ₹41 crore to shift to solar energy.
