In the past few days, sources have claimed that the Delhi Metro has become faster. The claim has been made based on the reduced door opening time and increase in a number of coaches! In fact, figures also show that DMRC has reduced waiting time in all its six lines. Commuters travelling from Huda City Centre to Samaypur Badli have now actually started reaching their destination Samayp(a)r! 😛
30 Second Window:
- According to official figures, those travelling in the yellow line had to initially wait 2.38 minutes for trains during peak hours. This has now been reduced to 2.08 minutes! It’s not much of a difference, but it’s better nothing.
- Statistically, the Delhi Metro had 220 train sets of four, six and eight coaches totalling to 1,340 coaches last year! Now, DMRC plans to increase its fleet to 1,654 coaches from a staggering 1,456. The number of trains will be increased to 244 trains.
- Thus, reducing the time stamp between each station! In fact, by giving the control of opening and closing of train doors to the driver, the time stamp will reduce even further. Statistically, train doors can close within 5 seconds if the platforms are not crowded.
- This will further reduce the time stamp! But that’s not it, the DMRC has also increased the permissible speed of each train from 33 kmph to 35 kmph
DforDelhi Recommends:
- That you help DMRC in reducing these time stamps by following the rules and regulations of the Delhi Metro. It’s only for the greater good, so why not?
