One of the most iconic places in Delhi, Teen Murti Chowk has been renamed after an Israeli city! The announcement came after the scheduled visit of Israeli PM was made official.
The idea to rename the chowk after the Israeli city of Haifa came after PM Modi’s visit to Israel last year. In fact, an official said, “the Teen Murti Chowk will be renamed as Teen Murti Haifa Chowk, in the centenary year of the Battle for Haifa as a symbol of friendship between the people of India and Israel.”
A large number of Indian soldiers had died protecting the city. And almost 900 of them were buried in Israel.
Hence, to improve and sustain the relationship between in India and Israel, the move was finally approved.
