The government in Goa on Tuesday stated that strict action will be taken against people found drinking on beaches!
According to sources, the government stated that the beaches should be clean. And no form of illegal activities should take place on them. In fact, an official stated that the police will not mind arresting people found drinking in the beaches!
May this year, police in the tourist state asked its personnel to arrest people found drinking in public places. At a meeting held in Calangute that month, citizens complained about drinking on beaches as well other public places and no action being taken against them.
Meanwhile, the state on Tuesday refused to withdraw the contract signed with the lifeguard agency to man the beaches, claiming that the government could not run such services.
