How many times have you wasted food? Honest answer. Because we’ve all done it and we’ve all felt helpless and guilty about it. We often hear people tell us how there are starving children and how you must be grateful for the fact that you get 3 meals a day. While we are grateful, there are sometimes when we tend to waste food unintentionally. Here’s how you can make it up to your sins! The Robin Hood Army is a zero-funds organization that is working with an aim to end world hunger.
What To Expect?
The Robin Hood Army is a volunteer-based organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and the community to serve less fortunate people. The local chapters are run by friends and colleagues of the organization, who hope to create a difference in their own unique way. For example, restaurants in the neighborhood of Green Park will contribute to the homeless of the locality, through volunteers who live in Greek Park. Volunteers, also known as “Robins” are largely students and young working professionals – everyone does this in their free time.
How You Can Help?
Volunteer. All you need is 3 hours/week at least twice a month to make a real impact. Take weekends out, make it a habit to give back to the community. You could sign up on their website and be a volunteer. Moreover, you could also start your own robin hood army in your city! Started in Delhi in 2014, the robin hood army has been helping the less fortunate and are now present in 103 cities across India.
They believe that hunger is not just a missed meal. It takes a toll on your physical and mental health as well.
Bottom Line
The bottom line is that while you are eating 3 meals a day, there are people starving, and there is something you could do to help!
