In 1990, 4 friends started a library called Hazrat Shah Waliullah Public Library in Old Delhi. So, while the neighbourhood they lived in was under lockdown with a curfew in place, something about the time changed the 4 friends. Soon after that they opened the library.
What to expect at Hazrat Shah Waliullah Public Library in Old Delhi
Even though the library is relatively new, the books it houses are rare! In fact, the rare books number in the hundreds out of the 20,000 odd books it already houses.
Moreover, these rare books even include Diwan-e-Zafar (poems by Bahadur Shah Zafar) & a copy of Bhagwat Gita in Urdu etc.
However, it’s not just books written in Urdu that the library offers. You can also find Sair-ul-aqtab, a 200-year-old book of Sufi teachings here.

The library has books that you’d probably never find in any other library in Delhi. In fact, when it comes to rare books, this is your treasure trove of happiness!
However, the library is currently under renovation and the books have been secured in other places.
So, in case you wanna go check them out, you might have to wait until end of October.
