No more complaining about Delhi being a concrete jungle guys! Under the green budget initiative of the Delhi Government, the national capital is all set to get six new city forests by March 2019!
According to the officials at the Forest and Wildlife Department, the work will be completed by March 2019 after which the forests will be open to the public.
Looks like its going to be all about going green and breathing fresh for Delhi!
City Forest Management Committees will be formed for supervision of the work and monitoring the maintenance by December 2018.
Under the innitiative, over 20 lakh saplings will be planted across the city during the upcoming monsoon season. With the help of the Resident Welfare Associations, the Delhi government will launch the campaign for the same in June this year!
So far there are 14 forest nurseries in Delhi and these agencies will be given seedlings of local indigenous tree species from these nurseries free of cost.
While the city is making efforts on their end, let us do our bit by planting a tree in our backyards!
