Visitors of the National Zoological Park haven’t got the luck to behold the astounding beauty of the giraffe for the last four years. ever since the death of the last surviving giraffe in the zoo in 2015. The authorities are now planning to bring back the long-necked critters to the park through an exchange programme.
Renu Singh, the director of NZP, has written to several zoological parks in Thailand including the Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Nakhon Ratchasima Zoological Park and Chiang Mai Zoological Garden for animal exchange. Thailand boasts of 24 giraffes in 7 zoos, and Delhi Zoo authorities plan to adopt 5 of them.
Giraffes are one of the most exquisite species on earth, thus other zoological parks in India are in no mood to part with them. This has impelled the NZP officials to look for foreign options.
While some leopards have already been brought to the park, Delhi zoo is soon gonna be home to new animals like fishing cat, leopard cat and oriental hornbills, along with the five giraffes.
With the kicking in of the winter, Delhi Zoo is anticipated to bloom in full swing with a whole new showcase of faunae.
