The ministry of road transport recently mandated retrofitting all public transport vehicles with VLT. The VLT, otherwise known as vehicle location tracking, will be part of the plan that also includes emergency buttons.
However, the plan will only come into effect from the 1st of January. In fact, the notification will be for all new commercial vehicles.
The Centre has exempted all public service vehicles registered upto December 31, 2018.
