Select CITYWALK is celebrating a very special event to kick off the weekend and it is called ‘Hijra Habba ’17. What is the event all about? ‘Hijra Habba’ is an event hosted every year where transgender entrepreneurs from all across India set up an exhibition of art and culture paintings and sculptures for shoppers. Isn’t that great?
Hijra Habba stands for “Transgender Amalgamation”. The event has witnessed massive success in the past editions. It helps in inspiring leadership in the community and influencing decisions at the policy level.
This year’s gathering is expecting around 200 transgender and hijra leaders along with 100 stakeholders. This will include state and national officials, implementing partners, legal experts and activists!
And not just this India HIV/AIDS Alliance is hosting the event and Select CITYWALK is helping them take forward this great initiative. India HIV/AIDS Alliance is an organization that works for the Social Rights of the Transgenders in India. It contributes towards the empowerment of the Hijras/Transgenders by making them self-reliant.
The event will be graced by eminent dignitaries including Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, a well-known transgender rights activist representing west, Ranjita Sinha representing East, Rudrani Chetri from North, Ravina representing Central and Aruna from the Southern part.
