He is all set to get the audience captivated as the artistic monochrome installation paint their minds and souls.
The event will host an incredible audience of intellectuals, travelers, photographers and storytellers from diverse age groups.
The black and white portraits from his book shall be zoomed on and off the screen while Ajay talks about the stories he lived over a decade of travelling across the country and the anecdotes that blew life into those photographs.
Indians is a collection of black and white portraits that writer, photo artist, traveler and speaker Ajay Jain has shot across the country. He identified portraits from over one lakh images clicked while road tripping across India since 2007 and self-driving over 1,00,000 km. The book is a compilation of just some of the portraits he shot over 10 years, driving 100,000+ kms in the process.
He takes his car from Delhi and goes as far as the road allows. His biggest journey was the Great Himalayan Drive – he covered the entire span of the mountains by road including Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Nepal, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. He had to take a U-turn at Kibithu, the easternmost motorable point in India on the Chinese border.
The collection of these portraits would not have been possible had he not explored the way he did – and there could not have been a faster way to achieve this goal.
So, if you have an innate love for travelling then this is your chance to understand what all the different people and cultures of the country have to offer.
