The Urdu Heritage Festival is back and this time it is happening in Connaught Place! For the first time, the festival will take place outside Old Delhi, and we are thrilled!

Every year Delhi’s department of art, culture and languages organise this event in collaboration with the Urdu Academy to celebrate the language’s connection with Delhi and its intangible legacy.

More than 50 artists, including well-known Urdu poets, Sufi and qawwali singers will perform at a six-day event at Central Park in Connaught Place from February 15 until the 20th.

The six-day cultural extravaganza will feature book exhibitions, mushairas, calligraphic displays, food stalls, ghazal renditions and literary competitions in which students will participate.

Live performances by young talents from Old Delhi will be an added attraction.

Delhi Archives will be holding an exhibition of rare documents and pictures narrating the history of the city at the venue.

The festival will conclude on February 20th with a mushaira in which famous Urdu poets such as Rahat Indori, Mahtab Haider Naqvi and Nikhat Amrohi will participate.

If you are someone who loves the art of Urdu poetry and yearns to learn about the rich culture and heritage of our city then this is an event you just cannot miss!
