The National Museum is hosting a first of its kind art exhibition for the visually impaired. In fact, the exhibition has been titled India and the World: A History in Nine Stories, and it aims to lend inclusivity to the world of art appreciation.
Which, quite frankly, is one of the best things we’ve seen in Delhi! Especially since the government recently announced a plan to make Delhi more disabled friendly.
So, the most striking feature of the exhibition is visually impaired kids smile and marvel at the art pieces.
The exhibition currently has 200 objects on display, showcasing pieces from 20 museums from around the world. Although 18 of these are tactile recreations they still make a fantastic display! Additionally, the exhibition also has –
- braille mark descriptions
- special audio guides
- tactile paths to help people move around independently
And we’re swelling up with pride, in hope of seeing more such exhibitions!
