Following the fire at Kamla Mills on December 29th that claimed the lives of 14 people, restaurants in Delhi have been going through strict checking for safety measures.
While around 400 restaurants have received their NOCs from the NDMC. 9 restaurants in Connaught Place may lose their license over safety norms violation.
According to a senior NDMC official, show cause notices have been issued to them. However, the names of the restaurants have not been disclosed.
Earlier the previous week all trade associations were asked to ensure that the restaurants operating in their respective areas were abiding by the trade license conditions. Specifically mentioning the fire safety measures and the sitting capacity sanctioned for each restaurant.
According to the norms, eateries with a seating capacity of less than 50 do not require a NOC from the police or fire department.
Let us keep our fingers crossed and hope our favourite restaurants are safe!
