Recently, NITI Ayog informed that Delhi will soon be facing the biggest water crisis in its history! In fact, the report also suggested that within 2 years all the groundwater in Delhi and 20 other cities in India will dry up.
Biggest water crisis: In Delhi’s history
The shortage of groundwater will affect 600 million people in India by 2020, 2021. Also, the water crisis will trigger a nationwide health crisis. Currently, almost 2 lakh people die in India due to poor water quality. Which, by the way, is a number that might increase if the government does not take any action.
However, in order to safeguard the dipping amount of groundwater, NITI Ayog has proposed a plan.
Accordingly, the government will be giving incentives to organisations that achieve their groundwater restoration targets!
Moreover, this isn’t the first time this report has been made public. Many international news agencies had also reported that cities in India will soon be facing their worst water crisis.
