On June 5th, the entire world celebrated the World Environment Day. To celebrate the day, the Delhi government inaugurated a yoga spot and a herbal garden at the Hauz Rani City Forest. Present at the occasion were Environment minister Imran Hussain and acting Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Gita Mittal.

Adding to the experience, a duck pond and an interpretation centre were also thrown open to the public, that could help locals learn about plant and animal species commonly found in the capital.
The theme for this year was “beat plastic pollution” to encourage people to reduce their plastic consumption, which has started to show adverse effects on the environment.
Plastic waste is leading to clogged drains while it is also consumed by cows and are even polluting soil and water.
This Yoga Spot and Herbal Garden could be a start in a long battle towards the preservation of our environment for our future generations.
