Embassy Of Japan Breaks The Japanese Cuisine Stereotype

What comes to your mind when you first hear about Japanese cuisine. Sushi, Ramen, fish? Well, they do have some equally lip-smacking vegetarians options too! There’s more to the unexplored world of Japanese cuisine. Breaking the stereotype that India has about cuisine in Japan, Ambassador Hiramatsu hosted ‘An Evening with Japanese Food’ at their residence in Chanakyapuri.

The Embassy of Japan in India has been working actively to raise awareness about Japanese food and Sake (Rice Wine) in India. For those scratching their heads and wondering what Sake is, it is a Japanese alcoholic drink made of fermented rice, koji, and water.

The Embassy of Japan in India hosted a large-scale Japanese food promotion event in association with 16 Japanese restaurants based in Delhi/NCR. Head to these 10 Japanese restaurants as they are certified as “Japanese Food Supporters”!

The Japanese Tea Ambassador, Ms. Hiroe MIKI, specially flew down from Japan to participate in the event to spread the charm of Japanese tea among Indian guests. The event also featured special exhibitions by Japanese companies like Japan Post, Panasonic, JNTO, Yakult, showcasing Japanese products such as sake, beer, whiskey, food and beverages, and kitchen appliances. Japanese food haven with Japanese technology, what a cool combo right?

After the opening remarks by Ambassador Hiramatsu, an awarding ceremony of Japanese Food Supporters took place followed by the reception. A special lecture-demonstration on Japanese food was also conducted by Japanese Chefs, namely, Chef Ishikawa and Chef Ono, at the Dia Park Premier Hotel, Gurugram. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation marked his esteemed presence and enjoyed the night with Japanese food and beverages.

The Embassy of Japan in India promised to keep putting efforts for the promotion of Japanese food among Indian people. And we’re more than welcome!
