Women empowerment in India has come a long way since seven decades of Independence. Over the years India’s colossal women force has transformed into an effective human resource and this has only been made possible through the empowerment of women. The participation of women in the economic life across all sectors is working towards building stronger economies, and improving the quality of life for women, men, families, and communities.
Today, women proudly walk shoulder to shoulder with men in every walk of life. They are trying their hands in different creative fields to enhance their passion and build their personalities according to what they believe in.
One such platform where women are thriving today is DJing. Women are taking it upon themselves to reflect in their music their power, strength, and vigour.
To empower our women DJs even more, Kitty Su across India has a plan and they wish to change the perspective of what it means to be a woman DJ in India so that the spotlight never misses them.
Not just as a DJ but as a woman – to discover, rediscover and be able to defiantly look the world straight into the eye and say – we did it!
The club has a month-long plan of hosting international and homegrown female artists. Their aim is to showcase and celebrate the growing presence of Women in Electronic Music Globally.
They will be bringing together international women DJs like Peggy Gou, Joyce Muniz, K-Hand, Lea Dobricric, Nina Las Vegas, Helena Hauff – all leaders & pioneers in the global music scene. Along with plenty of local homegrown female talent such as Kini Rao, Priyanjana, Ana Lila & many more playing through the month.
Kitty Su is a club that does not adhere to gender-conformity, from hosting special nights for the LGBTQ community to the brilliant sets performed thereby female DJs – the place is a mixed bag of emotions – mostly the kind that leaves you with a smile. And this is what lends Kitty Su’s initiative its distinctiveness.
A first of its kind, Kitty Su is the only club in the country to have gone out and dedicated a full month across cities for a cause and, bringing together so many female international acts together to highlight the growing presence of women in the music scene globally.
Kitty Su sets a benchmark of opportunities and forward thinking, tempered by good practices.
